The much awaited Simpsons movie was released few days back. After years of airing, and numerous episodes, as mentioned in their site, the stupidity of Homer Simpson would only fit the wide screen.

Well, like most story, the movie had a beginning, middle and an end. The protagonist (Homer) had challenge, went on a journey, overcame the hurdles, and met an ending.

I am not sure what are the factors - chat, email, forums, text messages, or just the fact that people do not have time. There does not seem to be an effort to write properly, leave alone beautifully. There seems to be not much of an effort put into spelling and grammar.

I had visited to the Denver Public Library last weekend as I wanted to do some research on Ravi Varma for a write up at KalaaLog. That was when I happened to take interest in the way the books are numbered and sorted. The librarian there was helpful and gave me few pointers that got me searching on Dewey Decimal System and ISBN.

April 23, is the day that UNESCOhas chosen to be the World Book And Copyright Day.

By celebrating this Day throughout the world, UNESCO seeks to promote reading, publishing and the protection of intellectual property through copyright.

Since the very beginning of human civilization, Story Telling has been an integral part of it. And by Story Telling, I mean here Narration or in a broader sense Literature. Be it Ancient Sloka's of Vedas, Keats Poetry, Shakespeare's Plays, or be it the epics, legends, myths, ballads, folktales or today's fiction/non fictions or even journalism, they are all narration on some form or other. Narration or Story Telling is the heart of human society, and here we are going to deal with the types of Narration, from a writer's or a narrator's perspective: first, second and third person narration.

Here is a quick blog post on the results of my participation at NaNoWriMo that I had joined some time back and had started writing a novel at the beginning of November.

About 8 hours ago, I was able to finish my novel, reaching a word count of 50153 words. The deadline must have been crossed several minutes before and it was a close call for me.

In my last post, I talked about what it takes to blog, and the different types of blogs. That led me into doing a bit of mining the web and I went through a couple of articles, that made me to look at Blog as a online magazine.

I will try to go over few things that would demand a discussion when the two - blogs and magazines - are put in one article :

Blogs and traditional publishing

I have been participating in NaNoWriMo and I have been using a handy technique to keep track of the plot. I am writing a fantasy fiction, and it involves a handful of characters. As some of you who have attempted or written a novel would understand that it can be quite cumbersome, because it becomes a bit hard to keep track of them, their motives, and all the plot scenes in general.

A long time back I did write on writer's block. I had even ventured out on writing a novella. But to be honest, that writer's block remained to date. I could make all sorts of excuses to not to write the novel that I had so much passion to write.

But I think, I have stumbled upon something that I hope can remove this writer's block - NaNoWriMo. It is a event that happens every year in the month of November. It stands for National Novel Writing Month.
